Santiago Bernabeu of Real Madrid was a Legendry player on whose name the home ground of Real Madrid is known as Santiago Bernabeu

Santiago Bernabeu Yeste (born in June 8th 1895, died June 2nd 1978) has an honor that is unique. He granted Real Madrid a name which is now very popular as giants of Spanish League. He is the man of honor, a faithful and loyal player to his club who scores 1200 goals in all competitions of his whole career, a dignity for the most UEFA Champion’s League winning team, a celebrity on whom name the club stadium name is after SANTIAGO BERNABEU

He was not less than like a super hero for his club because he was a top scorer, a captain, a secretory, a director and at last he gets the deserving designation and became the President of Real Madrid. As a player he joins the club at the age of 14 in 1909 and gets a chance in first team at 17. He scores 200 goals for his club and makes a record and later he was selected as deserving person for wearing the captains arm band. Then after spending 15 years of great loyalty he decided to quit his Football and get retirement from the club. 

After his retirement he was made as some a kind of manger and few years later, a clash during the El Gran Clasico gave Real Madrid a gift which they would never forget; shape of Santiago Bernabeu as the President of Spanish Club. When he became the President, He focused on making a stadium (started in 1944 and get ready for a first hurrah in 1947 with a capacity for 120,000) which is now known as Santiago Bernabeu, and he built Ciudad Deportiva a Training ground for his teams practice so that the pitch of the ground should be safe from the players cleats.

On the inauguration of the stadium a friendly match was played between the Real Madrid and Millionarios de Bogota, mighty Real lost the match by 2-0, but the scorer of the opponent team won the heart of Spanish Side President  and it was his stand to bring Di Stefano in the club. Under the Santiago era many star players of the times were included in the 11 like  Molowny, Muñoz, Di Stéfano, Gento, Rial, Santamaría, Kopa, Puskás, Amancio, Pirri, Netzer, Santillana, Juanito, Camacho, del Bosque and many more.
Under his Presidential regime of 35 years, Real Madrid won 71 Cups including 1 Intercontinental Cup, 6 European Cups, 16 League titles, and 6 Spanish Cups. As a President, His thinking was not just limited to Spain; the fact is that he started the tournament among the clubs of different countries, which is now days known as UEFA Champions League. 

The credit goes to Him that he makes the Real Madrid as the most successful club of Spanish history and as reward history embeds his roots in his beloved club by assigning the name of stadium as Santiago Bernabeu.
